HE MUST INCREASE, BUT I MUST DECREASE

Greetings to all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Another beautiful lesson which we can learn from St. John-The Baptist is, "Humility."

We see these days, even a father won't leave his dynasty/position for his son. That is the addiction which power brings!

But, St. John-The Baptist was totally an exception. How could he say, "He that cometh  after me is preferred before me, for he was before me."

If we are mistaken for some Guest of honor, if we are mistaken for something that we aren't..don't we enjoy the feeling of being superior.

From where did he receive, gift of prophesy, gift of wisdom, strength?

That's what God does!

"He will exalt those who humble himself."

As written by St. John Chrysostom,"In order to follow the Lord Jesus and enter His Kingdom, we must deny ourselves – all of our self-centered ways of seeing the world around us and our selfish behavior that results from this distorted vision – and pick up our cross and follow Him (Matthew 16:24)."

It isn't like St. John-The Baptist was having a soft personality. We see in the Gospel according to St. Matthew 3:7, how fearless he was to confront Pharisees and Sadducees!

But for God's work, for God's Glory, for God, he is ready to humble himself and direct all Glory to Him!

Let us also pray for His grace to fill us with Spirit of Humility!

May God bless you!
